The world of food is filled with many examples that show how cultures can combine to created new dishes, and indeed whole new cuisines.
A recent trip to Vietnam proved to confirm that while this splendid country has retained a passion for its own traditional cuisine, the influence of French imperialists has also had a profound impact.
One example is the increasingly popular noodle soup, Pho.
In this episode, we look at how this soup came to be and how it went from being a local specialty in the north of the country to being one of the most popular soups in the world.
